This is a new app for changing the power limit of Ryzen mobile CPUs in laptops and Mini-PCs. It is powered by the RyzenAdj utility.
You can use it to:
- Increase the power limit for better performance
- Reduce the power limit for better battery life
- Reduce the thermal limit so that your laptop runs cooler
For example, I have a laptop with a Ryzen 5600H CPU that runs at 45W.
- Running it at 15W doubles the battery life with nearly 70% of the max performance.
- Running it at 30W with an 80C limit provides good performance with less heat.
Some benchmarks for Ryzen 5600H:
CPU Power Limit (Watts) | CPU Temp Limit (C) | Total Power Draw at wall (Watts) | Sysbench (single) | Sysbench (multi) | Passmark (single) | Passmark (multi) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 90 | 12 | 449 | 2,964 | 280 | 1,969 |
6 | 90 | 15 | 3,007 | 11,155 | 1,905 | 6,292 |
15 | 90 | 24 | 4,827 | 22,009 | 3,033 | 12,659 |
30 | 90 | 42 | 4,801 | 29,952 | 3,070 | 16,687 |
45 | 90 | 61 | 4,819 | 31,552 | 3,081 | 17,436 |
